Description

Sky-Watcher 102/500 AZ3 Refractor Telescope

The Sky-Watcher 102/500 AZ3 is a 102mm Achromatic Refractor Telescope that come with short focal length of 500mm. This noticeably shorter tube compared to other telescopes of the same class allows it to deliver a wider field of view with standard eyepieces. The compressed length of the telescope makes it convenient for it to be packed up and stored away while not in use or in transit.

Premium Astronomy and Terrestrial Observation
Sky-Watcher 102/500 refractor telescope is the well proven performer in value for views of comets, star fields, star clusters, nebulae, bright galaxies & planets, the Moon and the Sun (with proper safety filtering!). Supplied with the sturdy and easy to use AZ3 alt-azimuth mount, which provides excellent stability and precise control, via its fine tracking adjustment knobs, on both the horizontal (azimuth) and vertical (altitude) axes, this Sky-Watcher 102/500 AZ3 is also used as a daytime terrestrial telescope.

The Refractor Advantage
Images viewed through a refractor telescope have a classic quality that other telescope designs lack. Since a refractor does not use mirrors to view objects, you get a generally sharper image. Images are also displayed without the secondary mirror shadow, making it suitable for terrestrial viewing when used with a 45° erecting image diagonal provided.

In the Box:

  • 102mm Achromatic Refractor
  • AZ3 Mount with Aluminium Tripod
  • Fine Tracking Adjustment Knobs
  • 2 Eyepieces Super 10mm (50x) & Super 25mm (20x) – 1.25″ Barrel
  • Red Dot finderscope
  • Telescope Eyepiece Adapter from 2″ to 1.25″ with T2 Thread
  • 45° Erect image Diagonal – 1.25″ Barrel

We’re pleased to announce that Rohan Hinton from Victoria is the 2021 Sky-Watcher Astrophotographer of the year Solar System Category.skywatcheraustralia.com.au/astrophotographer-of-the-year-competition-winners-2021Congratulations to Rohan with his entry titled A Second In Time. Please visit Rohan’s page to see his amazing work. www.facebook.com/astrowithroroRohan’s comments: This has been one of the most challenging images I’ve ever taken. 32 frames. 3 thousandth of a second shutter speed. 18 frames imaged per second. 1.8 seconds of view time. Stacked into one image. This shoot took 6 months of planning to finally capture, 2 attempts stopped by weather, 1 attempt where my shutter speed wasn’t fast enough and the ISS was blurred. Then this final attempt was almost foiled by gale force winds, but perseverance prevails!Well done Rohan on the award and enjoy spending your $1000 Sky-Watcher voucher. Congratulations to all that were shortlisted by Trevor. All shortlisted entries have now been listed for the peoples choice awards, an opportunity for you to choose your favourite image. skywatcheraustralia.com.au/people-choice/

We’re pleased to announce that Benjamin Marks is the 2021 Sky-Watcher Astrophotographer of the year Deep Space Category.skywatcheraustralia.com.au/astrophotographer-of-the-year-competition-winners-2021Congratulations to Benjamin with his entry titled Cosmic Calligraphy. Please visit Benjamins page to see his amazing work. www.astrobin.com/users/Brasspoodle/Trevor from @astrobackyard comment was: The image showcases the beautiful star colors in this area of the sky, as well as faint dust and dark nebulae. The delicate glowing rim of IC 4685 and subtle areas of reflection nebulae were captured and processed marvelously.Benjamin’s comments: This fascinating area, right next to the Lagoon Nebula (M8), sometimes referred to as the "toes" of the Lagoon, features various dark squiggly lanes and small features that suggest a vast cosmic calligraphy. This image was processed as an HDR image, combining various length exposures using Luminance, Red, Green and Blue filters to achieve a natural colour palette.Well done Benjamin on the award and enjoy spending your $1000 Sky-Watcher voucher. Congratulations to all that were shortlisted by Trevor. All shortlisted entries have now been listed for the peoples choice awards, an opportunity for you to choose your favourite image. skywatcheraustralia.com.au/people-choice/

We’re pleased to announce that Daniel Gum from NSW is the 2021 Sky-Watcher Astrophotographer of the year. skywatcheraustralia.com.au/astrophotographer-of-the-year-competition-winners-2021Congratulations to Daniel with his entry titled Dragon’s Lair, which also won the Nightscape category. Please visit Daniel’s page to see his amazing work. www.instagram.com/danieltgum/ @danieltgumTrevor from @astrobackyard comment was: I chose this image because of: Overall composition, Processing of the night sky and DSO’s,Unique vantage point The image is truly breathtaking from any view!!Daniels comments, This is my favourite nightscape image to date. Mungo is a 12 hour drive away from my home in Sydney, but those Bortle 1 skies are the best I've ever witnessed at night and photographed. I had perfect conditions for three straight nights with really good seeing throughout. I planned this setting milky way panorama using PhotoPills during the day, but later decided to use the blue hour blend for the foreground with a tracked sky for the cleanest possible image.Well done Daniel on the title and enjoy your new Skywatcher Esprit 100mm Telescope. Congratulations to all that were shortlisted by Trevor. All shortlisted entries have now been listed for the peoples choice awards, an opportunity for you to choose your favourite image. skywatcheraustralia.com.au/people-choice/
