CALLING ALL ASTROPHOTOGRAPHERS!

We’re looking for the best astrophotographers in the land for our SKYWATCHER ASTROPHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION 2022. Photographers of all levels are invited to enter – all entrants have a chance to win.

We’ve got 4 Categories and a winner will be announced from each category PLUS an overall winner.

The Prizes are:

1 x Sky-Watcher Esprit 100mm and HEQ5 GOTO Mount package (valued at $5998 AUD) and a Trophy of Recognition for the overall winner of the competition.
1 x Sky-Watcher EQ35M Goto Mount (valued at $1399 AUD) for the winner of the Nightscape category.
1 x Sky-Watcher 250mm Quattro OTA  (valued at $1299 AUD) for the winner of the Deep Space category.

– An image that must be taken with a Sky-Watcher Optical Tube Assembly.

PRIZE CONDITIONS

The advertised prizes will be sent to the winners as soon as stock is available in Australia.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • Any entrant who is under the age of 18, as of the date of entry, must obtain the prior permission of their legal parent or guardian over the age of 18 to enter. The parent or guardian may be called to verify their consent and may be required to sign a release at the discretion of the Promoter. The release may also require the entrant’s parent or guardian to accept responsibility for the acts and forbearances of the entrant. The release must be completed with the full name, address and telephone number of the entrant’s parent or guardian. Failure to provide such proof, particulars or releases will immediately invalidate the entrant’s entitlement to any prize, subject to State and Territory legislation.
  • Entry is open to residents of Australia and New Zealand only.
  • Entries from previous competitions are ineligible.
  • Entries must be in digital form and will be accepted ONLY through submission via the dedicated web site at:  https://skywatcheraustralia.com.au/image-upload/
  • Please remove all identifying marks such as watermarks from the image. Images will be deemed ineligible if not removed.
  • For judging purposes, still images must be submitted as JPG files with 2048px on the long edge in SRGB.
  • You’ll be asked to submit a profile image of yourself
  • You’ll be asked to submit an image of the equipment used to take your image.
  • All photographs must be taken within two years of the closing date.
  • There will be 1 winner of each category
  • There will be 4 silver recognitions of each category
  • There will be 15 bronze recognitions of each category
  • If you’re listed for a silver award, you will be asked to submit a high resolution of your image to verify the authenticity and for publishing purposes plus an image of your telescope setup. This must be submitted as a high resolution file, such as a Tiff, RAW or PSD file. If you’re unable to supply a high resolution image then your entry will be invalid.
  • All winning images will be printed and used for Sky-Watcher Australia’s and its sponsors marketing purposes.
  • Permission to reproduce entries for publication to promote the competition and exhibitions will be assumed as a condition of entry. The copyright of the image remains with the author, and we will try to ensure that the author is credited where the image is used.
  • All entries must be authentic images. Entries made up of composite images taken at different days, locations and with different cameras will not be accepted. Image manipulations that reflect art more than the true astronomical subject, will be deemed ineligible. Multilayer panoramas and blending of the foreground and sky is accepted, however all images must be taken from the same location and time.
